I-29 Lane Closure Change

ByTara Ekren /

FARGO, N.D. – Following a short-term lane closure of the passing lane on northbound I-29, a closure is now necessary in the driving lane near mile marker 75. This closure will begin today, June 17, and be in place until the northbound bridge opens to traffic, which is expected by the end of July. Dates are subject to favorable weather conditions and may change.

The work is in anticipation of opening the I-29 northbound bridge over the stormwater diversion channel and moving traffic from the current northbound bypass lanes back to the primary interstate lanes once the bridge is complete.

During this time motorists are asked to remain alert to changing traffic patterns. Speed will be reduced to 55mph through the construction zone, and lane widths are expected to be maintained at 16 feet during most of the construction. A one-week lane width reduction will be needed and announced prior to the change.
